The New England Patriots Foundation
Here in Rhode Island, we love the New England Patriots. In addition to being one of the region’s top sports franchises, the Patriots are also well known for their long history of giving back to local communities.
In 2023, the lives of dozens of children staying in Crossroads’ shelter and housing programs were made a lot brighter thanks to the generosity of The New England Patriots Foundation!
Family Fun Day with
New England Patriot Matt Judon
Experiencing homelessness is an extremely traumatic experience. That’s why creating opportunities for our clients to take a break and have some fun is such an important part of their healing journey.
Last June, New England Patriot Matt Judon spent an evening at Gather Farm in Johnston with several of our families where they got their hands dirty planting vegetables, took a guided nature walk where they learned about local plants—and most importantly, got expert advice on how to throw a football!
Thank you Matt for creating such an unforgettable experience for families experiencing homelessness!
Bed Zone Bash
With Pat the Patriot leading the charge, 27 children from Crossroads’ shelter and housing programs stormed onto Gillette Field in August to claim a brand new bed provided by Bob’s Discount Furniture, along with bedding, a new Build-A-Bear, and other essential items as part of The New England Patriots Foundation 3rd annual Bed-Zone Bash!
For many children experiencing homelessness, “bed” is a couch, a sleeping bag on the floor, or if they’re lucky, an air mattress. We can’t thank the New England Patriots Foundation and Bob’s Discount Furniture enough for giving these children the gift of a good night’s sleep on a proper bed.
Together, we are transforming lives and giving children in need the promise of a brighter future.
Gifts from the Gridiron
Imagine the excitement when 15 children staying in Crossroads' Family and Domestic Violence Shelter were invited by The New England Patriots Foundation to join current and former Patriots players such David Andrews, Marcus Jones, Devin McCourty and Deatrich Wise, Jr. for an evening of holiday shopping and fun at Bass Pro Shops at Patriot Place!
As part of the foundation’s annual Gifts from the Gridiron event, each child received a $400 gift card and shopping advice from a Patriots player or Patriots cheerleader who served as their personal shopper for the evening.
With help from their personal shopper, each child was encouraged to buy a new winter coat, hat, gloves and a holiday gift to give to a loved one. The fun night out also included dinner, gift wrapping, a visit from Santa and autographs and photos with current and alumni Patriots players.
Such a fun and impactful way to give back to the community! We can’t thank The New England Patriots Foundation enough for making the holidays a little brighter for the children in our care.
